Vocational Education

The scheme of “Vocationalisation of Higher Secondary Education”, approved in Sep 2011, was revised with the approval of the Cabinet Committee on Skill Development on 12.02.2014.The revised scheme is now known as “Vocationalisation of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education”.Sectors are: information technology (IT)/information technology enabled services (ITeS). The sectors have now been expanded to include travel and tourism, healthcare, beauty and wellness, physical education and training and gems and jewellery Sector.

Objective of Vocational Education :

  • Enhance the employability of youth through demand driven competency based modular vocational courses.

  • Maintain their competitiveness through provisions of multi-entry multi-exit learning opportunities and vertical mobility/ interchangeability in qualifications,

  • Fill the gap between educated and employable

  • Reduce the dropout rate at the secondary level.

  • Exploration of Opportunity and Critical Thinking

  • Discover Abilities and Skills and Evaluate Capabilities and Interests

What is Information Technology?

Need of Vocational

Vocational education programs have made a real difference in the lives of countless young people nationwide; they build self-confidence and leadership skills by allowing students to utilize their unique gifts and talents.
Technical and vocational education is used as a comprehensive term referring to those aspects of the educational process involving, in addition to general education, the study of technologies and related sciences, and the acquisition of practical skills,over all development, attitudes, understanding and knowledge relating to occupations .
